The Makers & Mentors group is an opportunity to share skills, learn from each other and to do life together. For further details or to learn more about this group, please contact Ann Young at 217-898-8361 or annyoung@mchsi.com
The next Makers & Mentors group is on Saturday, July 15, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Life Community Church.
Lisa Pope has volunteered to lead some Make & Take projects using Essential Oils combined with other ingredients. Please read the details she has below with all the possibilities, then reply with which projects interest you. This will be helpful in narrowing the supplies needed. Note: If the interest is substantial, there may be a need to help Lisa with the cost of supplies.
Remember that these events are designed to invite friends to come with you. We will divide the room space based on what is needed for the Make & Take.
Project Room Open 1:00 – 4:00 For anyone who just wants to continue working on your own project, there will still be tables set up for sewing, crochet, or whatever activity you choose for the day. Once again I would like to get some accounting of how many tables to set up, so please reply and let me know how much table space you will need.
For Everyone: Lisa will make some lavender lemonade with a natural sweetener, a fruit dip, and a veggie dip to demonstrate internal use of essential oils. I will bring some fruit and vegetables to go with it. Feel free to bring any snack food you want to add to the table.
Summertime Fun Make & Take 1:30-3:30 (Lisa Pope)
Whether it is the sun, pesky mosquitoes, chlorinated hair, seasonal allergies, or BBQ festivities, it is important to focus on your health and avoid the toxins in many of the most common summertime products such as:
-Chemical-laden sun lotion
-Unnatural bug repellent
-Questionable body scrubs
-BBQ ingredients
-And so much more!
I always love sharing how Essential Oils (EO’s) can be used during each season as this is often when people begin to recognize the multitude of ways to incorporate oils into their daily lives. I won’t get too in-depth, just a quick intro.
Here are the choices for the Make & Take:
Aroma Therapy — 2 different personal inhalers to choose from:
- Inhaler to promote a good mood, (great for kids and teens meltdowns)
- Inhaler to clear up allergies during outdoor activities.
Topical and diluted roller bottles or mist:
- Owie Spray
- Too much exercise roller
- Bug Off spray
- Too much fun in the sun spray
Moisturizing and cleaning:
- Moisturizing Body Wash
- Body and Hand scrubs
- Sunscreen lotion
Some details: Everything is easy to make, the inhalers being the easiest, rollers and sprays are pretty easy too, and it just involves measuring and mixing. If we do the sunscreen, it would need melted in the microwave. Lisa will provide recipes, tools and ingredients.
